Privacy Policy

Alimne ("we", "us"), operated by souc ai, turns your slides, documents, pasted text and YouTube videos into study guides and summaries. Privacy is core to how the product is built. This policy explains what we handle and why.

1. Study content you submit

• Files, pasted text and URLs are held in server memory only for the length of your session (maximum 15 minutes) and are purged automatically after that window, or instantly on your request. They are never persisted to disk, logged in full, or reviewed by a person.
• To generate a guide, the extracted text is sent to our AI provider (Groq) for processing. It is used only to produce your result and is not used to train models by us.
• Shared guides: if you press "Share" on a guide, that generated guide (not your original file) is stored so its public link keeps working until it is removed.
• Signing in: if a file, link or pasted text is waiting when you leave the page to sign in with Google, your browser keeps it on your own device (it is not sent to us until you press Generate) so that it is still there when you return. That copy is deleted as soon as it is restored, or when you sign out; a copy older than 30 minutes is never used and is deleted the next time you open Alimne in that browser.

2. Account & fair-use information

• Your account: an account is created by continuing with Google. Google then gives us your email address, your name and your profile picture, with an identifier for your Google account. We store them in our authentication and account database (Supabase) to identify your account, to show it to you when you are signed in, and to apply the fair-use daily limits to your account. We never see your Google password, and we ask Google for nothing else.
• Email accounts: inside an in-app browser (a page opened inside another app), where Google does not allow its sign-in, an account can be created with an email address and a password instead, and accounts created that way earlier still work. For these we store your email address. The password goes directly to our authentication provider (Supabase) and is never sent to Alimne's own server.
• We use a session cookie / local storage entry to keep you signed in.
• Usage counters: to keep Alimne available to everyone and to prevent abuse, we count how many study guides are generated (and chat questions asked). For visitors who are not signed in, one counter records how many study guides have been made from your browser, so that we know when a free account becomes required; it is kept against a random device identifier stored in your browser and is not reset daily. The other counters are daily ones, kept against your IP address, or your account ID if you are signed in, plus overall daily totals. Each counter is stored in our database (Supabase) and holds only a number and timestamps — never your files, text or study guides — and is used for nothing except applying usage limits.

3. Payments

Alimne is free and takes no payments. A small number of people subscribed to a paid plan before Alimne became free; those subscriptions are processed by Stripe, Inc. We never receive or store your full card number — Stripe handles payment details directly. For those subscribers we store only a Stripe customer reference and your subscription status.

4. What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
• We do not run advertising or third-party ad trackers.
• We do not retain your study material beyond the 15-minute processing window, except guides you choose to Share (see section 1).

5. Data retention & your rights

Study jobs: deleted within 15 minutes (or on demand). Account data: kept until you ask us to delete it. Usage counters (section 2): kept in our database until we clear them; we may delete old counters at any time. You may request access to, or deletion of, your account data or any usage counters linked to you at any time by emailing sales@souc.ai.

6. Third-party services

We rely on Supabase (authentication, account database & usage counters), Google (sign-in), Stripe (payments for existing subscribers), Groq (AI processing), Render (hosting) and Cloudflare (DNS/network). Each processes data only as needed to provide the service.
